Acne Scar Removal. Do You Need Acne Scars Removed?

Acne scar removal is a difficult subject. Do you need acne scars removed? When? How? Why? Is it difficult? Which treatment should I use?

For some, acne scar removal is unnecessary. Acne scar removal is only an issue for a small number of acne sufferers. Most people suffer from the milder forms of acne which, though unsightly and therefore a problem at the time, will clear up with no after effects. No problem there. No scars, no acne scar removal. And of course not all acne is the same.

But for some acne is a more serious issue. Severe acne can result in scars. For those who have serious acne with cysts, or nodules, which appear under the skin, this is an issue. If left untreated it can result in scars which necessitate acne scar removal.

As with many things, the best cure is prevention. If you suffer from acne see your doctor early, he can tell you whether or not you have acne serious enough to warrant active acne treatment. For those who have severe acne, if you catch it early enough and your doctor, or a dermatologist, deals with it, then it seriously reduces the chances of later needing acne scar removal.

Does popping cause scars?

Are acne scars caused by popping or picking at your acne? This is a contentious issue and there is no clear answer to this. Some say yes, some say no. However if you do, then it may be worth remembering that although some consider that popping those easy to pop most visible blemishes may not cause scars, that doesn't mean that you go ahead and have a go at those deep, hard to pop and less visible ones. Use your common sense.

So you really do need acne scars removed.

If you do need acne scars removed then there's a few options. They are medical/surgical procedures which are organised through your doctor who will probably send you to a dermatologist. To go into these is to go a little beyond what we are here for. However some general comments. They are not, unfortunately, cheap. And acne scar removal is not an exact science, so be prepared to find that the result is not a return to the perfect skin that you had before you got the acne. So make sure when you go to your doctor to ask ALL the hard questions you need answers to before starting any surgical acne scar removal program.
